MSTI would like to thank the "Yukun" internship program sponsored by the " The Maritime and Aviation Training Fund (MATF) ", Dalian Maritime University, Yukun seafarers & instructors, Hong Kong Marine Department, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and the Hong Kong Seamen's Union to put a lot of effort into this project.

The "Yu Kun" internship program was successfully resumed this year 2023, the opportunity to students of the Higher Diploma of Maritime Training Institute learn and experience the life on board

Students of Higher Diploma in Maritime Studies and students of Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology have just completed their internship life experience at sea. During their internship at sea, students of the Higher Diploma of the Maritime Training Institute learned navigation skills and used various navigation instruments together with students from the Mainland Yukun on the "Yukun" ship. They also experienced the life and duty on board the ship and interacted with experienced seafarers. Intern with mentor.

Through the "Yukun" internship program, interns received practical navigation training and experienced shipboard life. In additional , to learning more about the real working environment, they were arranged to visit other maritime training facilities of Dalian Maritime University and Dalian City and share local history and culture from mailand students.

Three Basic Skills on Emergency Preparedness

The Hong Kong Fire Services Department visited MSTI on May 23, 2023 to hold a safety workshop on "Three Basic Skills on Emergency Preparedness" for our full-time students. The emergency preparedness skills promoted by the Fire Services Department (FSD) can be grouped into three broad categories, namely “Extinguish and Prevent Fire”, “Self-help and Help Others” and “Escape and Evacuate”. Represented by three different colours, i.e. red, yellow and green, these skills are collectively termed the “three basic skills on emergency preparedness”. Getting a good grasp of the “three basic skills on emergency preparedness” will help strengthen your capabilities in dealing with emergencies or contingencies.

6-11-2020 Thanks to Kerry Logistics and Columbia International Removals for their enthusiastic help to successfully complete the tour of the operation on the local oil tanker. The students responded enthusiastically. The company director attaches great importance to this visit and specially arranged boat berths. He encouraged our students and welcomes graduates to join the company after graduation. The shipping industry has always been short of manpower and serious faults. Students should seize the opportunity to be promoted to captain.

Visiting to M.V. OOCL Japan

Under the arrangement of the Transport and Housing Bureau, and the support of OOCL and Modern Terminals Limited, more than ten second-year students from the MSTI Higher Diploma in Maritime Studies and IVE the Higher Diploma in Mechanical Engineering were honoured to visit the world's largest container ship - [MV OOCL Japan], the total length of the ship is 400 meters (approximately the height of IFC), and it can hold 21,413 TEUs.
 
The captain and the chief engineer introduced the operation of the deck and engine room respectively, and also shared the life on board. Unlike the old days, they can access the Internet in the sea now.

MSTI Open Day 2017

The MSTI Open Day 2017 has been smoothly concluded on 24th & 25th November 2017. There were a range of training facilities including Desk-top Simulator, Rope Making Machine, Medical Care & First Aid Equipment and Rescue Boats for display. Moreover, the demonstration of Firefighting and Survival Techniques had been arranged for the public aiming to let them learn more about maritime training and its development, and increased their awareness of the shipping industry.

Secretary-General of United Nations International Maritime Organization Visits MSTI

The four-day Education & Careers Expo was held at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 23rd to 26th February 2017It is a great pleasure that MSTI students were invited to serve as helpers and shared with the visitors their valuable experience by the Hong Kong Maritime and Port Board (HKPMB). Providing one-stop maritime-related information for young people and their parents on study, training and professional development, it would promote the maritime industry more widely.
